Twas the night before Christmas, on December 24th, I look out the window as a smile spreads across my face. I see specks of green and red decorations across the neighborhood. I see the twinkling lights— rainbow or gold. I see a blanket of snow spread across the no longer visible grass. I see the sparkle of light reflecting off of the snow-covered trees. I see the church come into view as I’m headed to the Christmas Eve service. My family with coordinating outfits. I am filled with happiness as my dad next to me passes the flame onto my candle light. My mind at peace, as everyone comes together to sing “Silent Night.” I open the door and am greeted by the mouthwatering smell of cheese and creamy sauce cooking on top of noodles. As I stuff breadsticks into my mouth, there is not a pause in laughter with my cousins and grandparents. They walk out, and my brother and I begin our yearly tradition. We exchange our gifts one to the other. I smile because he worked hard on a drawing for me. It says, “from Ryan,” in his messy handwriting. My family heads upstairs and I hear, “‘Twas the night before Christmas when all through the house not a creature was stirring not even a mouse…” as I doze off. An awesome thing, to me, is something that fills you with pure happiness. On December 24th, I feel happiness at every single moment.
