Do you ever just go to the store, the movies, mall, a concert, or anything in between and except nothing out of the ordinary to happen? You except that its just going a normal time then all of a sudden the most amazing and the least expected thing happens? Yea, that is an awesome feeling. Just knowing the something that doesn’t happen to most people happened to you is a great feeling, and it just coming out of the blue makes it even better. It could all be a coincidence that it happened, or maybe just faith but either way it did happen, and it’s a good feeling when good things happen to you. I mean, they always do say, “The best things in life come without warning and unexpectedly.”

We did it guys. We made metal fly, and not just a few feet, or a few yards, we have make metal fly for MILES. IN THE AIR. WITH PEOPLE IN IT. That’s simply incredible. Metal shouldn’t fly, it really shouldn’t, but the Wright Brothers revolutionized travel forever, strove for greatness and overcame the impossible with their invention of the airplane. Now of course like any invention it’s not perfect, but it’s amazing to think that we have the ability at almost any time of the day to say, “You know what, I’m going to France today.” AND YOU CAN JUST..GO! You’d be there in a matter of hours, and once you're there you can tell yourself that France isn’t the right place for you. No problem, how does Australia sound? Board a flight, you’re there in 2 days tops. When you think about it, flying is just you and a bunch of strangers banding together to ride on a dragon made of metal which travels through the sky at hundreds of miles per hour, while all you have to do is sip on glasses of free soda and watch whatever Ben Stiller movie came out last year. How awesome is that? One of the most awesome feelings I have is when the dice gods smile upon me. For example, when someone is making a huge push on you in Risk and all you have protecting your continent bonus is one little troop. But suddenly, you roll only sixes and fives, and manage to repel the attack. The enemies should have been able to defeat you by just forcing odds with their numbers, but no, not today. Sure it may have been pure luck, but it’s still one of the greatest feelings I can think of. The winter weather finally breaks, birds are chirping and flowers and leaves are actually growing back. Usually, you hate having to walk outside to your cold car and wait for it to heat up as you are wearing four layers, but now you don’t mind. You put your sunglasses on, start your car and open the sunroof. You drive to wherever you’re going, whether it be 2 minutes away or 20 minutes away. You enjoy every second of your hair blowing in your face and the wind rushing through your ears. You blast your music so everybody can hear and they judge you as they’re sitting next to you at a red light. But you don’t care, because you’re driving with your sunroof open, and that’s awesome. The sun does remarkable things for our world. It heats the ground, keeps the earth in place, and provides light to our lives. What I love most about the sun, however, is when it creates an array of colors that paint the sky. There’s nothing I love more than waking up and seeing a beautiful sunrise out my window. Every sunrise and sunset are unique. It’s like looking at a piece of art for the first time every day. I feel as though beautiful sunrises and sunsets come when you least expect them, like when you’re driving or walking the dog. I love seeing the sun rise on my way to school, and sometimes I get distracted when I see dazzling pinks, blues, and oranges in my rearview window. Although weathermen can predict when the sun will rise and fall, its beauty always seems to catch me off guard. With all of the construction and paving of the land, it’s refreshing to see something so spectacular that wasn’t made by a bulldozer and cement. The rising and setting of the sun are God’s daily gifts to us, showing how bright our world can be, even in the darkest of times. So this might sound odd but one of the things I appreciate in world is a recliner couches. Why? Simple, your couch is always there when you get home to plop down a rest your feet on for you whenever you get home from work. Also what better place to take a nap on when you’re really tired and don’t feel like moving? And no the answer is not your bed. And I think the most obvious answer to this is that it reclines! Who doesn’t love to just sit there and just watch a good TV show. Or just sink back and eat a bag of potato chip, fruit or whatever you like. Or to even sit there and do some homework, taxes, or whatever on. So just sit back relax and enjoy. Every student currently in North Allegheny has felt stressed at least one time in their high school career. And if they haven’t, then they are lying. With all the extracurricular activities after school, or other hobbies students may be involved in, it is hard to studying for every test and complete every test to the best of your ability. Therefore, I am sure many students have turned in tests and thought after to themselves, “I definitely just failed that.” Then the anxiety starts on how low of a score you actually got. A couple days go by and it’s the dreaded day of getting the test back, and you realize you actually did pretty well! You definitely didn't fail! In fact, you received an A! The feeling is indescribable, like Christmas and your birthday combined, or getting a puppy. That feeling when you are smarter than you think and when having no confidence and low self-esteem after you take a test, skyrockets to a new level of awesome after realizing you actually didn’t bomb a test. You turn the final page. You’ve been working on this one for weeks, and today is the day you finish. The crisp milky pages have gotten fewer and fewer and now only one is left unturned. You pause for a moment, you fingers already slipped behind ready to flick. And then you do. You see the final page. There is something eerie, but fulfilling in the last page of a book. It shows us that there are endings. Every story does come to end- more than that, every story must come to an end. And we like that for the most part. We like the idea that a story has an end, because endings bring solace, most of the time. They bring closure. The feeling that you have when the echo from your mind’s voice slowly fades away till it’s gone and all that you are left with is the perfection of that moment. “It is a far, far, better thing that I do than I have ever done; it is a far, far better rest I go to than I have ever known.” “The fate of this man or that was less than a drop, although a sparkling one, in the great blue motion of the sunlit sea.” “Nevermore.” “The offing was barred by a black bank of clouds, and the tranquil waterway leading to the uttermost ends of the earth flowed sombre under an overcast sky – seemed to lead into the heart of an immense darkness." “He loved Big Brother.” “Here’s my hope that we all find our Shangri-La.” It’s not very often that you end up being home alone, but when you are, it feels like the possibilities are endless. Sure, the typical “teenager” thing to do when your parents go out of town is to throw some huge party. But then you wouldn’t exactly be “home alone.” One of the most entertaining things to is to sing at the top of your lungs and dance around like nobody is watching… because nobody is! You could eat all the junk food you wanted or scream as loud as you want at those annoying twelve year old kids you’ve had the misfortune of playing Call of Duty with on Xbox. It even gives you the chance to play one of those weird songs out loud which you often find yourself skipping over in order to avoid having to explain why you ever bought it in the first place. (Don’t pretend you don’t know what I’m talking about. We all have at least one of those songs.) There’s nothing better than being your own boss for a little while, and being home alone certainly gives us all that opportunity! After a long hot day there is nothing better than a cool summer night. There is something special about sitting on your front porch as the sun goes down and just breathing in the sharp air. The way you can feel it enter your nose and move to your throat on it’s way to your lungs makes it seem like any other breath is just an imitation. The air tastes of bonfires and stale sunshine. The perfect combination. Supplemented only with the bitterness of tea from your favorite mug. The world lacks all sound but the whispering of the trees and the hiccups of the frogs behind the house. Life seems to prompt you to do nothing but sit here, on the front porch, and simply exist. |
