There is such a satisfying sensation when wearing new shoes. It’s perfectly clean and dirt-free appearance with a slight empowering, click clack of a sound from your heel to your toe, fills this little space within your heart that was previously empty. You feel awesome in new shoes. You are ready to take on the world in your new kicks. You are ready to strut down the hallway with James Brown bursting from your headphones. While looking chic and unique, you gather together a sly and smooth sense in which you just feel and look Awesome.

It’s hard to even put into words how awesome this sight is. Going to concerts time after time will never change the intense feeling I get when see lights all around an arena. A loud song is playing during the show and you’re dancing and singing the night away with 40,000 screaming fans around you all there for the same reason. Then, towards the middle of the show, a slow song, happy or sad, plays on the giant speakers around the arena. Your favorite artist, usually by this point, is standing near a microphone stand not dancing or putting on the elaborate show that you came there for. But that is OK. They clear their throat from all of the high notes they’ve been hitting for the past 25 minutes and say, “can you all please put your phone flashlights up in the air?” The colorful concert lights quickly dim around you. Little by little you see each section of the arena light up in seconds. Soon the entire room is filled with light that you are creating; So bright that maybe even astronauts can see. You look around with glistening eyes and see they everyone at this very moment are connecting through the music. Everyone is swaying their phones to the slow, but magical, music. You see people taking panorama shots with their phone or even just their eyes to capture the moment. How tragic that the song is only 4 minutes long. You wish it would last just 5 minutes more, just so you can live in that moment for that much longer. Who knew cell-phone flashlights could make a concert such a brighter place literally and mentally. That's why I think it's truly awesome. There’s nothing better than waking up to the smell of sizzling bacon and eggs. When the first breath of the day is filled with loving gusts of tastiness, it puts me in a good mood from the moment I open my eyes in the morning. Not only does this heavenly scent bring about grateful feelings towards the individual who is doing the cooking, but it also brings a feeling of sheer happiness to the soul that is almost too difficult to put into words. There’s no question that a moment such as this is truly awesome. Especially when it is put into words like this. Being cold might be the worst feeling so it's no surprise that being warm is pretty awesome. When the temperature is awfully cold it can make even the best of activities dreadful. After shivering and losing the feeling in the tips of my fingers and toes, retreating to the indoors or the beloved car with the seat warmers on high is blissful. As I begin to warm up I peel off layer after layer of clothing, recover movement in my stiff limbs and the snot icicle thaws from my nose. The heat alleviates the tightened up, condensed feeling in my stomach. Warmth is not only welcomed as relief from the cold, but at all times whether it emanates from the warm hands of someone else, being situated near the heating vent right as it turns on, or just lounging on the carpet where the sun has been shining through the window. I will always accept comfort of warmth with open arms.
Winter in Pittsburgh can be quite cold and that commute from your house to your car can seem quite long. When you open your car and get in it seems even colder inside! Perhaps not this time; having your car already warmed up is an experience everyone should have in the morning or just any cold time of the day. Nobody likes to be cold especially in their car. Also when you don’t warm your car up you have to deal with the cold air blowing on you for the first 5 minutes of driving; making it even more miserable. A heated car in the cold is comfortable and nearly reassuring to the passengers. It brightens up moods and provides very pleasant and relaxing vibrations all around. It makes the commute to whatever or wherever you need to go a little bit better and never fails to do so. In the morning most people just can only deal with so much, uncomfortable events like riding in a freezing cold car. Events like this should be subtracted from our lives to give us that little pleasure every morning to make us feel a little more productive. Little things like that truly are what make life awesome
Friends are so important. No one can deny it. They are the ones who you hang out with, talk about life and school with, laugh with, share the little secrets with. It just feels so right with everything when you two are together. However sometimes you may find out that you are not that important to your “best friend” and feel disappointed with the fact that s/he is treating you just like everyone else. You might then want to tell that person how you think about your friendship, but do not know what to start with. So much struggle, so upset. So if the best friend that you think s/he is, also treats you the same, that you two are the best friends ever, why not be awesome? It’s 6:00 in the morning on a damp, cold Saturday. You awake to a freezing cold room and nestle yourself even deeper into the layers of blankets. You would do absolutely anything to stay in the warm confinements of your bed. The thought of putting on your uniform and standing in the freezing cold, half asleep feels like the least desireable thing that planet Earth has to offer. BUT WAIT! Your dad comes in and tells you that practice was cancelled and you can go back to bed. THIS IS THE ACTUAL DEFINITION OF AWESOME. Nothing in the world at this moment could bring more bliss than the feeling of your head hitting the pillow and knowing that you can now sleep in as late as you want. Saturday mornings are for sleeping in and recovering from the stressful week that preceded it. And now because of mother nature’s heroic deeds, you will stay warm under the covers, sleeping in undisturbed peace. An awesome quote I heard from somewhere not on the physical planet of Earth is “I’m really feeling it”. It means that you are feeling good and you are keeping calm under pressure. It feels awesome and it is awesome because the only thing you want to feel while under stress and trouble is feeling great. If everyone explodes into anger and doesn’t improve over time, then how awesome is that? Not very cool. Stay calm, stay focused and try to really feel the power of awesomeness if you are under a bad situation. It might boost your morale.
Getting your whole group of friends together at one time at one place is very awesome. Everyone has their own priorities and obligations throughout the week that it can become difficult and a hassle to get everyone together. When these moments happen however, they are hard to forget. When everyone is just vibing off of one another and laughing and having a good time, I think that is very awesome. Walking up onto the porch of a buddy’s house and seeing all of your friends and greeting everyone on a summer night is one of my favorite things on this earth. Late nights up in the treehouse and staying up for twenty four hours are all moments that I would consider to be awesome. These moments where we can get all of our friends together can sometimes be arduous, but when we can do this, it is a truly awesome moment. Nothing is like exploring something new; something unknown. Knowing that your feet have never touched this ground, and your eyes have never seen this view. Soaking in every moment, forgetting about your life at home for a second, and just be what you feel and what you want to be in this exact moment. Breathing in new air, getting to know new people, new cultures and tell them about yours. Trying new foods, new music, maybe even learning a new language. The feeling of new ground under my feet makes me feel alive. Nothing is as valuable--as awesome--as traveling. |
